Installing Bathroom Ceiling Tile

Bathroom Ceiling Tiles add beauty and luxurious look to your bathroom. The best thing about ceiling tile is that they are extremely easy to take care of. Just wipe them with a wet cloth and all the dust is clear. But when it comes to installing them, one has to be extremely careful since they are very heavy and can cause serious injury while installing.

Therefore, you need to use the proper security equipment while installing ceiling tiles. You must wear hard hat to prevent your head. You also need to wear safety glasses as well as safety gloves.

Before installing ceramic tile on ceiling make sure that ceiling is capable of lifting the extra weight of tile. It could be very hazardous if ceiling is not powerful enough o lift the extra weight of tiles which was going to be added to it. It could be fall off of the wall and what if somebody is standing underneath the tile.

Therefore, it is suggested to make ceiling capable of lifting extra weight by installing some kind of good quality cement fiber board which is capable of making a great underlayment for tile in wet locations. When installing cement fiber board, make sure to not to use nails. Instead of nails, you should use screws and bolts to install it. Also, don’t forget to hit the studs in order to provide best support for tiles.

Beware of using mastic glue to install tiles on ceiling unless you are using small tiles. Mastic glue takes longer time to dry, sometimes even more then two months. Moreover, tiles could be sagged if installed overhead. Therefore, it is suggested to use multipurpose thinset which is lot more sticky than mastic glue and will hold the tiles once it pressed into place.

Now you are ready to start the process. Start with the mixing of thinset. You probably want to make thinset a little bit thicker in order to make it dry faster. Thicker thinset can very easily grab onto the ceiling and reduces the chance of falling.

Don’t stand up underneath a tile which is newly installed. It is very heavy and can cause serious injury to you if it falls off of the wall into your head. Therefore till the tiles are not dry completely, do not stand below it.

After some time, when the thinset is completely dry, clean the grout using a sponge dipped in clean water. After that you can start the process of installing grout just like you do when installing floor tile or wall tile.
